Street Photography in Hong Kong: Addicted Presets Team Exploring Cheung Chau Island

Cheung Chau is a small island 10 km southwest of Hong Kong Island and is home to about 23,000 residents. It’s one of the oldest islands in Hong Kong area and is famous for its large fishing village, seafood restaurants and markets.

Thousands of people travel from Hong Kong to Cheung Chau to feast on more affordable fresh catch during the weekend. Lots of restaurants have water tanks filled with seafood offering to choose your dinner as it’s still swimming. The place gets flooded with people and turns into a vibrant and buzzing scene.

Hundreds of colorful boats moored at the bay, smokey blue hills in the backdrop with the sun slowly setting in the horizon – what else a photographer could ask for?

Those who live on Cheung Chau island use bicycles to get around the curvy and narrow streets where clothes are hanging out to dry, wicker trays are filled with squid and fish drying in the sun and tiny old temples are full of history and charm.

Most locals spend their days fishing and selling their catch at the market or chatting with neighbors on boardwalk benches. These islanders have so much character and wisdom. The vibe here is so raw and authentic.

If you are a fan of street photography as much as I am – this is the perfect place.
